Disappearing milk
The animals and I decided to have a harvest, so we trooped down to the hayfield to begin our harvest. In the evening we
noticed that the milk we had gotten from the cows had disappeared. The mystery of the milk had been cleared up, it was taken
by the pigs. In conclusion the animals agreed to letting the pigs have all the apples and milk. This was because Squealor
had made a speech stating that the pigs need the food because the pigs are the brainworkers and leaders of the farm. If the
pigs failed their duties then Jones the human would come back. So it was without further argument that the milk and apples
would be reserved for the pigs.
The seven
commandments reduced ?
The seven commandments
were originally:
1. Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy
2. Whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings is a
friend
3. No animal shall wear clothes
4. No animal shall sleep in a bed
5. No animal shall drink alcohol
6. No animal shall kill any other animal
7. All animals are equal
It was found that the "stupider" animals such as the
hens, ducks and sheep were unable to memorize the seven commandments. Therefore Snowball declared that the seven commandments
would be reduced down to only one maxim which was "Four legs good, two legs bad." Without further or do the maxim was written
on the barn right above the seven commandments in larger letters. Later on there was nothing written on the barn except for
a single commandment which read All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others.
Pigs rule
The pigs started to get everything they
wanted such as the food and even the farmhouse. Squealor however was still able to convince the animals that the pigs need
a quiet place to work. However we were disturbed when they found out that the pigs took our meals in the kitchen, used the
drawing-room as a recreation room and even slept in beds. One day Muriel looked at the commandments and noticed that the fourth
commandment stated "no animal shall sleep in a bed with sheets." The
animals had said it wasn't fair that the pigs got to sleep in a bed. However the rule was against sheets which was the human
invention. The commandment is ironic because it is saying that the animals may sleep in a bed, but they can not use sheets.
Once again the animals were convinced that the pigs can not get too tired because they have all the brainwork to do. It was
also announced that the pigs would get up an hour later than all the other animals. No complaint was made about that either.
